Sanctuary

Sanctuary is an experimental and experiential performance that derives from the rhythms and rituals of christian spaces through the lens of queer identities. The piece is scored by live musicians and features both original music and traditional church songs. The work borrows structures, practices, songs, and literature that might be found in church services as tools for creating a sense of queer fellowship. Immersive in nature, the work invites its audience to move through a re-imagined church service.

The development of this work was supported by Mare Nostrum Elements. The full work premiered at Triskelion Arts in the CollectiveGenius festival (October, 2026). Excerpts have been seen in the Made by Women festival (March, 2026) and Spark Theater Festival (March, 2025).
